Byline: ON COURSE: Training can be fun

ARE you thinking about changing your job? Are you keen to improve your future prospects? Do you want to do a course to update your skills or achieve a qualification? If so, nextstep can help.

Nextstep is a nationwide government initiative aimed at encouraging people over the age of 20 to get back into learning. The Merseyside Connexions nextstep team supports a network of providers who offer information and advice services across Merseyside.

Nextstep aims to assist adults who want to get back into learning or work but lack qualifications. It can also help those seeking a change of job or career, and is specifically targeting those without an NVQ 2 or equivalent qualification.

Experts in all aspects of career guidance, the friendly advisors at nextstep will lay out all the facts and information, take time to talk you through your different options and give you the necessary encouragement and confidence to help you make an informed decision. Nextstep is different to any other advice service, because it is locally available on a face-to-face basis. In exceptional circumstances, if you have a disability that stops you travelling to your local nextstep service, advisors will visit you at home.

Armed with the right information you can work together with a nextstep advisor to formulate a practical action plan. If you are feeling lost or stuck in a rut and can't see a way forward, nextstep will open doors that could lead to endless new possibilities. Advisors will work alongside you to link your personal interests and skills to your job and career needs, or even source help for financial and childcare support.

Whatever your personal needs, the nextstep team can tailor their services to suit your circumstances or put you in touch with other organisations that can help you. Contact the nextstep team on 0151 703 7581 or email nextstep@
