Chippenham Town 0

Halesowen Town 0

HALESOWEN ended their patchy season with a creditable stalemate that left Chippenham facing a long play-off trip to King's Lynn tomorrow.

Gary Thorne scooped the ball over the Halesowen bar from only ten yards after seven minutes, but it was both keepers who produced excellent saves to keep the score level at the interval.

On 21 minutes Stuart Pierpoint found Simon Forsdick and his goalbound 20-yard shot was superbly tipped over the bar for a corner by home keeper Steve Perrin.

A minute before the break, Halesowen keeper Dean Coleman then made a tremendous fingertip save to claw away a header from substitute Matthew McEntegart.

The Yeltz were well on top playing up the slope in the second half but found Perrin in top form.

James Francis was blocked by Perrin on 50 minutes and then Perrin punched away a 65th minute header from Nick Amos.

Evesham United 3

Chesham United 1

EVESHAM'S last competitive game at Common Road ended in victory, but the celebrations were dampened with news that Northwood had gained a draw at Cirencester.

This was enough to send Evesham down after just one season in the premier division.

Needing a win to have any hope of staying up, Evesham forged ahead when James Fox headed in Robert Taylor's free kick after 2 7 minutes.

Chesham went close to levelling in the last minute of the half, but Andy Smith came to Evesham's rescue by clearing Darren Sarll's header off the line.

Fox put the home side two up on 57 minutes striking in a first-time shot past Paul McCarthy following keeper Nathan Vaughan's huge clearance upfield.

Chesham hit back a quarter of an hour later when Vaughan failed to gather Enoch Boateng's corner and Danny Bur-nell was on hand to stab the ball home.

Chesham's hopes of clawing their way back into the game were dashed two minutes later when Chad Shepherd curled in Evesham's third with a delightful effort from 20 yards.

Fox nearly grabbed a hat-trick before the end but McCarthy saved well to deny the striker at his near post. …
