Austria Supports RP Trade, Tourism Promo in Europe

The Philippines has gained the support of the Austrian government in promoting the country's trade and tourism in Central Europe, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).

Philippine Ambassador to Austria Linglingay F. Lacanlale said Austrian state officials have also vowed their unwavering support to cultivate stronger business and tourism cooperation between two countries.

In separate meetings with the Austrian provincial officials, Lacanlale said the Philippine government has gained the support of Gerbhard Halder, president of the Vorarlberg State Parliament, Tyrol Governor Dr. Herwig Van Staa and Innsbruck Mayor Hilde Zach to help the Philippines boost its tourism and trade.

"Both parties agreed to work together to promote greater awareness of each other's countries, as a first step in generating interest from the private sector and travellers," she said.

"The meetings dealt extensively with possibilities for improved trade and investment ties between local companies and their Philippine counterparts, as well as the promotion of the Philippines as a tourism destination of choice for travelers from these two states," she said. …
