Oak Brook tavern sued:

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has filed a federal lawsuit against an Oak Brook tavern on behalf of several female employees for what they say was repeated sexual misconduct. The EEOC is seeking $50,000 in compensatory and punitive damages for each of the four women who claim they were sexual harassed by Vito Moreci, the owner of the York Tavern, 3720 York Road. EEOC attorney June Wallace Calhoun said as many as 20 women may have been repeatedly subjected to vulgar language, sexual jokes and advances between April 2004 and this year. The EEOC, which filed the suit Thursday, said the York Tavern violated a section of the 1964 Civil Rights Act. Attempts to reach Moreci Thursday night were unsuccessful.

Open house sessions:

Glen Ellyn Park District will hold four open house sessions to inform residents about the November ballot question in which officials are asking for $11.9 million for the renovation of Main Street Recreation Center, land acquisition and construction of a new multipurpose facility at Ackerman Park. If the referendum question is approved, the tax rate would remain equivalent to what it's been since the 1999 bonds were purchased, but the payoff date would be rolled over to 2017. In other words, the owner of a $300,000 house would continue to pay about $70 more a year. Open house sessions will be at 7 p.m. Oct. 4 at the Lake Ellyn Boathouse, 7 p.m. Oct. 19 at Main Street Recreation Center, 10 a.m. Oct. 21 at Holes & Knolls Miniature Golf Course Clubhouse in Maryknoll Park and 6 p.m. Oct. 24 at Spring Avenue Recreation Center. EEOC sues company:

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission filed a federal lawsuit Thursday against an Oak Brook mortgage company, claiming it discriminated against a former employee on racial grounds. The EEOC filed the suit against Integrity Financial, 800 Enterprise Drive, and seeks reinstatement, compensatory and punitive damages. Schaumburg resident Latonya Whittengton, a former loan officer who is black, said she was fired for excessive absences even though a white female had a worse attendance record and kept her job at the company, EEOC attorney June Wallace Calhoun said. …
