John Johnson

JUNCTION CITY - Visitation will be Thursday, Dec. 28 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Murphy-Musgrove Funeral Home in Junction City, for John Junior Johnson of Junction City, who died Dec. 22 of age-related causes. He was 89.

Johnson was born March 17, 1917, in Decatur, Ill., to John and Lilly Davis Johnson. He married Mae Stratton in January 1943 in Tacoma, Wash. She died in 1977. He and his second wife, also named Mae, married in 1984 in Las Vegas; she died in 1999.

Johnson was co-owner of the family business, J.L. Johnson & Sons Foundry in Decatur. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

Survivors include two sons: Duane of Eugene and John Jay of Baker City; a brother, James of Cedarville, Ohio; four sisters: Wanda York of Eugene, and Helen Stanley, Barbara Young and Doris Hammel, all of Decatur; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

No service is planned. Memorial contributions to hospice.

Ellis Silver

FALL CREEK - Ellis E. Silver of Fall Creek died Dec. 22 of age-related causes. He was 93.

Silver was born Aug. 30, 1913, in Pensacola, N.C., to Jessie and Cleetie Allen Silver. He married Sara Cordell in Greenville, S.C., on Feb. 16, 1938. He worked as a contractor and a carpenter.

Survivors include his wife; two sons: Richard of Fall Creek and David of Bradenton, N.C.; two daughters: Florence Harshbarger of Altadena, Calif., and Nelda Trabow of Tucson, Ariz.; two sisters: Naomi Emmanuele of Escondito, Calif., and Louise Mingus of Ohio; 12 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

No service is planned. Burial will be at Springfield Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Springfield Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.

Otto Buss Sr.

COTTAGE GROVE -The graveside service will be Friday, Dec. 29, 2006, at 1 p.m. at Fir Grove Cemetery in Cottage Grove for Otto Louis Buss Sr. of Cottage Grove, who died Dec. 22 of age-related causes. He was 90.

Buss was born Sept. 12, 1916, in DeWitt, Neb., to William and Elizabeth Mahloch Buss. He married Willo Hughes in Las Vegas in 1942; she died March 11, 1972. He married Vera Renoe in Las Vegas on April 15, 1973.

He supervised the Dept. of Water and Power in Los Angeles until retirement and then taught diesel mechanics and heavy equipment in San Luis Obispo, Calif. He was a maritime officer for two years at Sheepshead Bay, N.Y.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Jean Young of Los Angeles; a son, Otto Jr. of Patagonia, Ariz.; a stepdaughter, Toni Pilling of Cottage Grove; a stepson, Brian Renoe of Raleigh, N. …
