GONE IN A FLASH; Brother Tells How GAA Fan Drowned after Game

A YOUNG GAA fan on his way home from a match downed six pints of beer before jumping into a lake and drowning, an inquest heard yesterday.

Tyrone supporter Martin Joseph McGoldrick was still wearing his county jersey when police pulled him from a lake in Roslea, Co Fermanagh, the next day.

His devastated brother told the hearing they had been celebrating Tyrone beating Cavan in the Ulster Championship on June 25, 2005.

But Martin, 19, was "highly intoxicated" when he jumped into Corranny Lough.

The teenager, from Fintona, Co Tyrone, had stopped off at the lake on his way home for a swim but went missing shortly afterwards.

At Enniskillen Coroner's Court yesterday, his brother Ryan told of the moment he realised Martin had gone missing.

He said: I looked around and he was there and the next thing, he wasn't."

Ryan added that he and a friend began diving into the water but "couldn't see anything". …
