Open Source Software Helps Brings the World to David's Improved Website; E-BUSINESS

A West Midlands business consultant is landing work on a worldwide basis after learning how to make his mark on the web. David Willetts, of Kingswinford, had more than a decade of industry experience as a qualified accountant before he set up DAW Consulting in 2002.

He felt he had the necessary skills to be able to assist small and medium-sized firms to become more efficient and profitable.

And, although he was receiving regular commissions for work at the beginning, his business has recently gone through the roof as he is getting work abroad and has been approached by multi-national firms wanting his assistance.

He originally developed his website - - with the assistance of Business Link, but through the help of the National B2B Centre, David now has overall control of content and has a much stronger presence on search engines such as Google.

The B2B Centre is the e-business centre of excellence for the West Midlands and introduced David to open source software which, for no cost, allows him to update and edit his own site.

"Previously, my website was like having my CV online," he said. "That was fine but now I can make regular updates using the open source software. …
