Florence library to host talk on getting published

Author Shinan Barclay will offer a free presentation called "Ten Tips On How to Get Published" from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. today at the Siuslaw Public Library, 1460 Ninth St., Florence.

Those attending will receive a packet including a fill-in-the-blanks query letter, an article outline, a bibliography, a list of resources for writing and publishing success and more.

Barclay is a creativity coach, storyteller and the co-author of two books: "The Sedona Vortex Experience" and "Flowering Woman, Moontime for Kory."

Reedsport Library begins kids summer programs

The Douglas County Library System is ready to begin this year's summer reading program. Children may visit the Reedsport Branch Library to pick up their summer reading folder and learn how to earn a free book.

The branch also will offer arts and crafts programs at 11 a.m. Tuesdays.

The library also has a separate teen reading program. Activities for teens include the library bingo card, guessing jar and drawings for books and prizes.

Junction City library boosters set meeting

The Friends of the Junction City Public Library will hold its annual meeting at 7 p.m. Monday at the Junction City Public Library.

Agenda items include planning for the upcoming year and the election of officers.

Those attending may bring a favorite recipe for a recipe exchange and for use in a Friends of the JC Public Library cookbook. Refreshments will be served. For information, call 998-8852. …
