LOOKING every inch the Hollywood heartthrob, Jonathan Rhys Meyers steps out of his car, dressed in luxurious period costume.

Close by, he is joined by actress Annabelle Wallis, who is the very picture of radiant bridal beauty in her full wedding gown.

What a pity then, that the Irishman had to ruin the 16th-century look by holding tight to his constant companion a pack of 20 Marlboro Lights.

Tobacco aside, tourists rambling around Dublins historic Christchurch area which was transformed with scores of costumed extras were delighted to catch a sneak peak of the hit series, the Tudors, in action.

The 31-year-old Rhys Meyers is reprising his role as Henry VIII in the forthcoming third season of the series. The second series begins tomorrow on BBC2.

Dressed in his gold wedding finery, Jonathan entered Christchurch Cathedral as he prepared to film the marriage scene between Henry VIII and his third wife Jane Seymour played by Wallis.

King Henry announced his engagement to Seymour in May 1536, one day after he had his second wife Anne Boleyn beheaded the pair married ten days later. Jane Seymour died in October 1537 following childbirth complications when giving birth to Edward VI.

After taking time out to grieve the loss of his mother Geraldine, Jonathan returned to Dublin to continue filming for Series Three. …
