Justice on Wheels in Aurora Today

Chief Justice Reynato S. Puno and Justice Consuelo Ynares Santiago will bring to Baler, Aurora province today the Supreme Court's enhanced Justice on Wheels (JOW) project to conduct marathon hearings in a mobile court.

The JOW project has caused the provisional release of more than 500 prisoners in the country. Thousands of prisoners have also benefited from the SC's medical and dental missions done simultaneously with the mobile court hearings.

Aside from hearings and medical missions, mobile court-annexed mediation, free legal aid, information dissemination on relevant and significant topics, and workshop and dialogues with barangay officials are also part of the JOW project.

Santiago, chairperson of the JOW project, said the hearings would be held from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. inside the mobile court to be stationed at the Provincial Capital Compound in Baler.

The hearings will be presided by Presiding Judges Evelyn A. Atienza-Turla of the Regional Trial Court Branches 66 and 96 and Renato D. Pinlac of the Municipal Circuit Trial Court in the province. Mediators Basilio P. Rupisan, Jr., Anna Marie J. Logar, and Raymundo S. Quitlong, Jr. will also conduct court-annexed mediations.

The information dissemination lectures to be attended by Baler barangay officials will be held at the Sangguniang Lalawigan Session Hall. …
