11 Visayas school execs pass tough examination

PALO, Leyte - At least 11 field education officials in Eastern Visayas hurdled the tough superintendent examination administered by the Department of Education (DepEd) at the Rizal High School in Pasig City recently. DepEd Region 8 director Sol F. Matugas said six of the superintendent test passers are school principals. They are Raul D. Agban, Manuel P. Albano, Mariza S. Magan, Genia S. Murallos, Carmela R. Tamayo and Edita S. de Veyra. While the other successful passers in the test which is also called Educational Management Test (EMT), are Education Supervisor (ES) Arturo S. Isip, ES Edita D. Vale, ES Mario Rodgie R. Sombilon, and district supervisors Judith C. Boco and Josilyn S. Solana. Matugas said the 11 successful examinees are now qualified for appointment initially as DepEd assistant schools division superintendent in any provincial or city schools division in Eastern Visayas or any region in the country. Matugas said the test covered various subject areas or competencies which sought to measure the educational executive ability of the educator-examinees. The areas, Matugas said, included Foundation of Education, Advanced Curriculum and Development and Innovations, Current Trends and Issues, Legal Basic and Jurisprudence in Education, Advanced Research, Measurement and Evaluation; Interpersonal Skills, Human Relations and Organizational Behavior Standards; Educational Planning and Resource Management; Fiscal Management, Physical Management and Instructional Leadership. Cebu loan payment stalls approval of 2009 budget
