Through all these years, the Product Development and Design Center of the Philippines (Design Center), a technical agency of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has been steadfast and unwavering in its mission to service the design needs and requirements of micro, small, and medium entrepreneurs. It is heartening to note that almost all the successful exporters and entrepreneurs of the yesteryears, have at one time or another been assisted by the Design Center.

Today, the players and stakeholders of the microfinance and the SME entrepreneurs are excited to avail of the "Designers' Monday" program of the Design Center. This excitement is matched by no less than the enthusiasm of Ms. Doddit M. Leano, Supervising Director of Design Center as well as all the staff of Design Center.

One may ask: What is the so-called Designers' Monday Program? Designers' Program is actually a day dedicated to free one-hour design consultations on the latest design ideas, information and related product development activities for manufacturers of furniture, home and personal accessories.

The consultation/trends briefing schedules is as follows:

* First Monday - Gifts and Houseware

* Second Monday - Furniture and Home Accessories

* Third Monday - Holiday Decor

* Fourth Monday - Fashion Accessories

Trends Briefing - 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Consultation Hours - 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m.

2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The Trends Briefing and Design Consultation are free of charge. Handouts on trends are given free of charge to manufacturers.

Despite the global economic crisis - the Design Center is very visible nowadays to service the design needs and requirements of micro, small and medium enterprises. Rightfully so because life must go on despite the economic crisis.
