Workplace Training Helps Employees at Transmissions Firm Learn Leadership

Employees at Turner Powertrain Systems in Wolverhampton have signed up to a major management training programme.

The Racecourse Road transmissions company, which is part of Caterpillar UK Ltd, has 11 members of staff studying towards degrees and diplomas - but none of them have to leave the office to attend classes.

The leadership capability programme has been tailored to fit in with Caterpillar's own business goals, while also further strengthening employee engagement within the Dunstall-based company.

The scheme involves group sessions and regular one-to-one coaching led by Acua Ltd specialist Learning and Development consultants.

Management trainers Acua were established last year and specialise in working with businesses at their place of work - cutting out time the students would lose in travelling to study, along with the hassle.

The courses also include supply chain management, financial planning and management capability.

They are part Government funded, accredited by Coventry University, and have been tipped for success by Turner Powertrain HR advisor Malcolm Condon.
