Organizational Transformation

As we start the new year, most organizations are scrambling to transform themselves into something that would enable them to meet their challenging and sometimes unrealistic goals and objectives.Typically the goals would be to increase revenues, have a larger market share, reduce cost, improve margins and of course to make more money.There are several factors that need to be considered to be able to transform the organization into the powerhouse that would enable the organization to achieve success. These are attitude, environment, financial, technical and management. While some of these items may not be under the full control of the organization, they would nevertheless be critical elements needed by the organization to succeed.The attitude of the workers, supervisors, managers and executives determines how the organization functions. It is indeed sad to see that millions of Filipino workers are willing to go anywhere in the world, give up their families and take all kinds of risks just to get a job and yet there are millions of the same Filipino workers here in our country who view their job as if it was their right to have it regardless of how they perform. This unfortunate attitude has been the result of misguided labor rules, regulations and laws that make it practically impossible to get rid of regular employees even if they do not perform.Internal environmental conditions pertain to the company’s rules and regulations, physical facilities and the employees themselves. The atmosphere of the work place has a lot to do with how the company performs. An environment that encourages and is conducive to creativity will be more dynamic than one that has rigid rules and regulations. External environmental factors cover government rules & regulations, the local and global economy and political situation. Restrictive regulations, an economic downturn coupled with political turmoil are hard things to mitigate. Sometimes, just to survive in such an environment is considered a success. …
