Project Offers Grants, Training to Faith-Based Organizations

Illinois Coalition for Community Services would like to announce the availability of a new program intended to provide free training, technical assistance and cash grants to faith-based organizations, community organizations and houses of worship across the state. With a 2009 Compassion Capital Fund Demonstration Grant in the amount of $500,000 from the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, Administration for Children & Families, ICCS will deliver capacity building services to any interested nonprofit organization, and award grants of up to $25,000, through a competitive process, to organizations meeting eligibility requirements.

The program, entitled the Illinois Milestones Project: Achieving Capacity Transformation, will launch in January with three regional training conferences, followed by nine training workshops offered at different locations throughout the spring. Ongoing one-on-one technical assistance will also be provided to organizations by an ICCS Community Organizer. These services are free and open to any nonprofit, faith-based organization, or community organization, including emerging groups and houses of worship.
