IN 2010 Childwall Sports College achieved its best-ever GCSE results. Large numbers of students achieved top grades at GCSE and significant numbers achieved A* in all subjects.

Childwall Sports College was thrilled that, once again, it had exceeded Government targets - especially in the key measure of GCSE A*-C with English and mathematics.

The Sixth Form also continues to flourish and, in 2010, it achieved its best-ever results with more students than ever before achieving grades A and B. There were a number of outstanding performances at both GCSE and A Level. Noteworthy was the performance of Sean Walsh in Year 13, who achieved two A*s and three As at A Level to allow him to study medicine at Cambridge.

Sean's success reflects Childwall's most recent outstanding Ofsted Inspection, when Childwall was described as: "A good school with several outstanding features. Key to its success is the warm and caring ethos fostered by all staff and greatly valued by students."

Ofsted also noted that: "Students thrive in this harmonious community" and "students truly feel safe, secured and valued. Parents are highly supportive of the school, stating for example, 'the teachers are wonderful, they care for their pupils' and 'we like the way the head always gets involved and is so proud of his school."" Childwall's Sixth Form was also praised by Ofsted, with the provision described as Outstanding. The inspection was complimentary about the teaching staff too, stating: "The headteacher and senior team provide impressive leadership and set a clear direction for improvement. …
