MANILA, Philippines - In celebration of Indigenous Peoples (IP) Month, the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) leads in the staging of Dayaw Festival: Indigenous Peoples Month 2010 in Manila. Pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 1906, October is celebrated as IP Month to highlight the best practices among indigenous cultural communities all over the country.The Dayaw Festival is envisioned to be a celebration of peace by bringing together representatives of the country's 110 ethno-linguistic groups. Around 18 major cultural communities of these groups will feature interactive activities such as performances, exhibitions, forums, conferences, lecture-demonstrations, and workshops on traditional crafts and cuisine, along with indigenous games and arts and crafts produced by traditional specialists and artists.The ethno-linguistic groups will be joined by delegates from six member nations of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations. A conference on the theme "Kalikasan" will be attended by IP leaders from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. Performances dubbed "Indayog ng Kalikasan" will be staged in five universities in the cities of Quezon, Pasay, Pasig, San Juan, Makati, and Manila. …
