DIVISION One pacesetters Bedworth strode to a 39-shot success at Coundon A courtesy of eight winning legs.

Mike Shuter's 21-14 gave Coundon a good start but the champions reeled off the next five cards via Roly Pratt 21-5, Pete Roseblade 21-14, Stu Whitby and Ken Westlake 21-17, and Clive Lamb 21-20. The home side rallied with wins from Bob Fackrell 21-16, Gary Pritchard 21-17 and Paul Mander 21-19 but three more good cards from Gary Hoolihan 21-9, Roger Taylor 21-14 and Kit Kitlinski21-15 saw Bedworth comfortably home.

Grove A won by 58 at home to Newdigate A when Barry Stone 21-3, Dave Chapman 21-5, and Paul Montgomery 21-9 were best of their eight winners and Chris Bennett 21-7 the pick of four for Newdigate.

Copsewood A won the local derby against Stoke Coventry A by 14 shots with Barry Shaw 21-7, Leigh Burdett 21-12, Ken Mason 21-13 and Craig Wood 21-14 best of eight for the home side and Chris Reid 21-7, Arthur Higginson 21-9, Morn Bratby 21-16 and Claude Reid 21-19 taking four cards for Stoke.

There were two good away performances in Division Two with Windmill winning 11-4 at Vauxhall - Steve McVey 21-8, Tom Rankin 21-13, Steve Rankin 21-13 and Terry Turner 21-13 leading the way to a 29-shots success - while Dunlop B took ten good points from the trip to Standard where Marg Clarke's 21-7 was backed up by Chris Welland 21-9, Bill Sharples 21-11, Reg Shepherd 21-13, Ron Shaw 21-15 and John Clarke and Josie Shepherd 21-17.

Dunlop finished with a 24-shot margin as the Standard had good cards from Wal Tarrant 21-7, John Hodgson 21-11, Adi Holland 21-16, June Holland 21-17 and Alan Holland 21-20. …
