About me ...

I began my career as a primary teacher and in many ways my heart is very much in the classroom. I teach in the English, literacy, Arts and teaching and learning components of the B.Ed and M.Teach programs and love the privilege of working with such committed and enthusiastic early career teachers. The University of Sydney employs me. My role in the faculty as Associate Dean is about the strategic visioning of our academic programs.

My research and writing has centred around working alongside educators interested in reforming their curriculum practices often using drama and literature to enhance children's literacy and English outcomes. I am passionate about the need for teaching and learning to foster creativity and imagination at all levels of education and that has led me to understand and advocate for embedding quality arts processes, practices and experiences across the curriculum. I'm also very interested in arts informed research methodologies.

Between us, my husband and I have ten grandchildren and it is such a joy and privilege to be part of their lives. My other interests include theatre and reading (mostly children's literature of course). I've also recently joined the Board of the Sydney Story Factory.
