A Fortnight for Freedom: The Conventual Franciscan Friars of Marytown -- The National Shrine of St. Maximilian Kolbe continues nights of talks by leading Catholic thinkers in the public sphere, discussing contemporary issues, religious liberty and forming a Catholic conscience in regard to public policies. Speakers will be: Robert Gilligan, executive director, Catholic Conference of Illinois, at 7 p.m. Friday, June 22; the Very Rev. Patrick Greenough, OFM CONV, national director of the MI and Minister Provincial, St. Bonaventure province, at 7 p.m. Monday, June 25; Michael Sullivan, member, Thomas Moore Legal Society, at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 26; Brian Burch, president, CatholicVote.org, at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 28; and Bonnie Quirke, executive director, Lake County Right to Life, at 7 p.m. Monday, July 2. The Fortnight for Freedom at Marytown concludes with a special Mass at 9 a.m. on Independence Day, Wednesday, July 4. In addition, for two weeks, June 21 through July 3, the Conventual Franciscan Friars will be holding prayer services each night beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Chapel for the preservation of religious freedom in the United States. All events for A Fortnight of Freedom are free and do not require registration.

Mah-jongg Tournament: Sunday, June 24, Congregation Or Shalom, 21 Hawthorn Parkway, Vernon Hills. A Mah-jongg Tournament, sponsored by the Or Shalom Sisterhood, will be held and is open to the public for a fee of $40 per player. Groups and singles are welcome to attend.
