St. Paul UCC: This month look forward to new beginnings and a return to familiar routines. Rally Day will be Sunday, Sept. 9, at the new property of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 12N268 Switzer Road in Elgin, beginning with an outside morning worship beginning at 9:30 a.m. The Rev. Paige Wolfanger will lead the service, which will include children's time. Bibles to third-graders will be presented. After the service, the church picnic will begin with a potluck luncheon. Willow Creek-Huntley: On Sunday, Sept. 9, Campus Pastor Craig Springer will be teaching out of Joshua 3. Have you ever felt like you were in a wilderness? Come to the Performing Arts Center of Huntley High School, 13719 Harmony Road, at 10:30 a.m. to hear "First Steps," a message of hope and challenge. Promiseland (children's ministry) and Elevate (middle school ministry) meet during the service. Impact (high school ministry) meets Wednesday nights in Huntley High School's cafeteria. First Congregational Church: On Sunday, Sept. 9, the Rev. James Benzing will preach at the 10 a.m. service at First Congregational Church, 30 N. Washington St. in Carpentersville. Light of Christ: The Rev. Kendall Koenig, along with the Rev. Sharon Rogers, will begin a new sermon series this week called "David: Bold Faith, Imperfect Life" at Light of Christ Lutheran Church in Algonquin. Blended worship at 100 Hanson Road in Algonquin will be at 5 p.m. Saturdays and 8:30 and 10 a.m. Sundays. There is also a contemporary service at 10:45 a.m. Sunday at Westfield School, 2100 Sleepy Hollow Road in Algonquin.

Westlake Community Church: On Sunday, Sept. 9, the service is focused on God's work this summer in Zambia at Westlake. St. John: St. John's Lutheran Church, 115 N. Spring St. in Elgin, will celebrate the 15th Sunday after Pentecost at all three services this weekend. The Rev. Hannibal Frederich's message, "Touchpoints," will be based on Mark 7:31-37, which records Jesus' healing of a deaf man. Services are at 5:30 p.m. Saturday and 8 and 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
