Crow Flies off Mark for Exiles

BARROW................................... 0 NEWPORT COUNTY........... 3 NEWPORT County boss Justin Edinburgh insists Danny Crow is up and running after grabbing his first goals for the club in a 3-0 win at Barrow that sent them back to the top of Blue Square Bet Premier.

With kick-off delayed by 75 minutes after a fatal accident on the M6, Lee Evans fired County in front a minute before half-time, but Crow wrapped up the points after the break with two goals in seven minutes.

With 20 minutes to go, Crow chipped Barrow keeper Danny Hurst from long range before tapping-in a corner, though he blew the chance to make it a hat-trick by missing a late penalty.

And after watching him finally get off the mark, Edinburgh believes that Crow made an emphatic statement.

"Danny Crow hasn't been getting the headlines in recent weeks, but he showed what he can do," he said.

"I'm delighted he got off the mark.

His first must have been from 40 yards - what a goal to make it 2-0. After that he got a little poke-in for his second which was fantastic.

"I won't say anything about his penalty - although the ball is probably still on its way out of the ground.

"Andy Sandell is our penalty taker, but I can understand why he gave the ball to Danny, it should have been his hat-trick.

"That is the third time he has missed a penalty that would have given him a hat-trick, so I suppose we take the ball off him now. …
