Access Media 3 buys MDUC

OAK BROOK -- Access Media 3 said it has acquired MDU Communications Inc., which will expand AM3 market in Illinois, Florida and Georgia. Terms of the acquisition were not announced. AM3, which provides bundled television, Internet, and voice service to multidwelling unit properties, will gain more than 3,100 service subscribers, with an anticipated transfer of an additional 4,800 subscribers by the end of 2012. AM3 maintains more than 65,000 subscribers companywide, in eight states and the District of Columbia. "The MDUC acquisition gives us the immediate opportunity to increase our subscriber base within our existing footprint," said AM3 CEO Scott Rediger.

Federal Signal names executive

OAK BROOK -- Federal Signal Corporation has appointment of Braden Waverley as the interim chief financial officer. Waverley will replace Bill Barker, who is departing the company to join Trustwave as its chief financial officer. Prior to joining Federal Signal in a consulting capacity last year, Waverley served as executive chairman of CombineNet Inc. and was an investor and adviser to multiple early stage companies. His capital markets experience ranges from private equity and venture capital to public markets. The company is conducting an external search for a permanent replacement.

MCC gets manufacturing grant

CRYSTAL LAKE -- A U.S. Department of Labor grant will give McHenry County College nearly $600,000 over three years to expand its manufacturing programs. The McHenry County school's award is part of $12.9 million being given to 21 Illinois community colleges through the Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) Community College and Career Training program. Reports say that McHenry County College plans to use the money for programs that focus on areas such as computer numerical control, robotics and welding. …
