W. Aurora High Names Graduates to Hall of Honor

The West Aurora High School Distinguished Alumni Hall of Honor will recognize four graduates this spring who have gained recognition for outstanding accomplishments in their fields of endeavor.

The 2013 Hall inductees will be Edgar Neil Foster Jr., Class of 1938; Robert Garrison, Class of 1954; Carol Cauldwell McElroy, Class of 1961; and Michael Oros, Class of 1980.

The inductees visit West Aurora High School and speak to the students in a variety of forums Friday, April 19. The induction ceremony and banquet will be held on the evening of April 20 at the Aurora Country Club. For dinner information, call Randi Ochsenschlager at (630) 897-6785.

* Foster was a world-famous magician who was invited to perform at the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in London. He was the editor of The New Tops, a trade journal for magicians, and edited several magic books. He also operated a school of magic and invented many effects. He was world famous for his floating sphere illusion.

* Garrison is an astronomer, author and educator. His primary research has involved the discovery and description of certain types of stars. He is known for his way of making the most complex of subjects -- advanced areas of the Milky Way Galaxy, analysis of the stellar contents of star clusters and galaxy nuclei, for example -- accessible for his students. …
