Discover Judaism's 'Many Streams' at Talks

Ever wonder what the different movements or denominations or streams of Judaism say about God, Torah or Israel? What is the same? What is different? Do the terms matter anymore?

Rabbi Margaret Frisch-Klein will discuss these questions when Congregation Kneseth Israel presents a four-part series on the "The Many Streams of Judaism" beginning on Thursday, Jan. 10, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the synagogue, 330 Division St., Elgin. There is no fee for this series, and all are invited.

Klein states, "Part of what drew me to join CKI was the search in which the congregation is engaged. This is not always a comfortable discussion, but the leadership has been working their way through a process of self-identification, and in doing so are facing the same issues the entire Jewish world has faced for centuries. In fact, these questions have been faced by every religion. It is universal."

Each class is designed to be a stand-alone segment with ample opportunity for questions. …
