THE Football League programme was badly hit by the weather but Swindon's match against Shrewsbury did beat the freeze and Paulo Di Canio's side moved up to third place in League One with a 2-0 victory.

The Robins made headlines off the pitch this week with the news the club is up for sale but it was business as usual on the pitch as Chris Martin opened the scoring from the penalty spot four minutes after half-time.

Andy Williams doubled the advantage four minutes later and it finished that way after Wes Foderingham saved Matthew Richards' penalty eight minutes from time.

Swindon remain seven points behind leaders Tranmere and second-placed Doncaster, who both won on Saturday.

Tranmere put a dent in Brentford's automatic promotion hopes with a 2-1 victory at Griffin Park. Andy Robinson's penalty (42) gave the visitors the lead and, although Harlee Dean levelled (50), Adam McGurk popped up with the winner in the 66th minute.

Doncaster kept pace with Tranmere courtesy of a 2-0 victory over Leyton Orient in Brian Flynn's first game in permanent charge. …
