Cavite Comelec Reviews Voters' Lists

TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite --- The Provincial Commission on Elections (Comelec) started looking over the voters' lists of the six cities and 17 municipalities in their turf.

The certified voters' lists will be posted at Comelec offices of the cities and towns for public confirmation, as well as scrutiny, on February 12. The posting was pursuant to Section 30 of Republic Act 8189.

Lawyer Juanito V. Ravanzo Jr., Comelec supervisor, citing reports of his staff and city and municipal election officers, said that the province's total number of May 13 mid-term election qualified and registered voters was 1,789,438.

The voter number, as recorded by the Comelec, was approximately 50.5 percent of the estimated 3,632,275 province's population that was reported by the Provincial Population Commission.

The province's 2013 voting number list was obtained by this reporter from the Comelec office here. The number came from the province's seven districts which comprised 829 barangays (villages).

The list showed that the province's fourth district (Dasmarinas City) has the biggest number of voters with 314,192, followed by second district (Bacoor City), 318,318; sixth district (comprising the towns of Amadeo, General Trias, Tanza and Trece Martires), 289,734; seventh district (Tagaytay City and towns of Alfonso, Bailen (formerly Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo), Indang, Magallanes, Maragondon, Mendez-Nunez, Naic and Ternate), 250,963; fifth district (towns of Carmona, General Mariano Alvarez and Silang), 229, 047; first district (Cavite City and Kawit, Noveleta and Rosario towns), 215,295; and Third District (Imus City, Cavite's capital), 171,889. …
