Jessica Sanchez in Solo Debut Valentine Concert

Article excerpt

When she was here last year, international singing sensation Jessica Sanchez was accorded a grand treatment fit for a visiting royalty as her fans rolled out the welcome mat and left no stone unturned in making the event truly exciting, enjoyable and memorable.

Although she was part of the touring group of the Top 10 finalists on Season 11 of the "American Idol" ("AI") reality singing competition, where she won second place, she was the center of attention to her proud and adoring countrymen in her various activities, especially during the main event itself.

Aside from the public clamor, Jessica personally desires to live up to her promise of returning to the country to hold a major concert as a debut solo act on Feb. 14 at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.

Featured as a special guest in the musical event titled "Jessica Sanchez Live In Concert!" is Jessica's fellow "AI" finalist Colton Dixon, who, himself, has earned some degree of popularity in Manila, especially among female fans, since his initial appearance here.

Another factor that is expected to drum up interest in the Valentine show is Jessica's Filipino roots, her mother being a native of Samal, Bataan before she moved to the US and settled with her Mexican-American husband and her family.

Since her "AI" stint, Jessica has been involved in a flurry of activities that kicked off with a 45-day US tour with her fellow "AI" Top 10 finalists, culminating with the Smart-Araneta Coliseum concert in the stellar cast's first Asian engagement.

She continued with her streak of high-profile appearances when she joined Neil Diamond, Babyface and David Foster at the 26th Annual Carousel of Hope Ball on Oct. 21 at the Beverly Hilton, which featured George Clooney as an honoree.

Recently, she made waves with the release of the music video for "Jump In," featuring of the Grammy Award-winning hip-hop group, Black Eyed Peas. Shot in the Philippines last September, the fun, danceable video first went online in October before being officially launched last Dec. 2 on radio, television and online.

Before 2012 ended, she notched another milestone when she topped the searches on Yahoo! Philippines, followed by the National Basketball Association and singer Sarah Geronimo, in a search list dominated by celebrities from the fields of entertainment, showbiz and music ("Jessica Sanchez Live In Concert!" is produced by Ovation Productions and made possible by ETC, 2nd Avenue, Diva Universal, Jack TV, RJ 100.3 FM, History Channel, Discovery Channel and Edsa Shangri-La Manila.
