Peace Panel Welcomes Congress Support

MANILA, Philippines --- The Government of the Philippines peace panel negotiating with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) has welcomed the joint resolution of support issued by the Senate and the House for the implementation of the Framework Agreement on the Bangsamoro.

"The peace process is not just a work of those on the peace table - but a work of a nation unified by the goal of attaining a just and lasting peace," said Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process Secretary Teresita Quintos Deles.

Deles made the remark after the Senate and the House of Representatives passed a resolution last Wednesday supporting Executive Order No. 120 creating the Transition Commission that will draft the proposed Bangsamoro Basic Law. E.O. 120 signed by President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino last Monday.

The resolution also acknowledged the work of the government and the MILF which "are both invested in problem solving with the view of establishing a just and working autonomy for the Bangsamoro people."

The Transition Commission is the first mechanism to be created following the road map that was set in the Framework Agreement on the Bangsamoro (FAB) signed by the Government of the Philippines (GPH) and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front on October 15, 2012. …
