SINAIT, Ilocos Sur - Three moderately strong tremors hit some areas in Visayas and Mindanao yesterday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said yesterday. No one was reported killed on injured in the incident. Phivolcs recorded that the first quake with 4.6 magnitude occurred at 2:45 a.m. with epicenter at 195 kilometers southeast of Governor Generoso, Davao Oriental province with a depth of 33 kilometers but no intensity felt in the affected areas. The second tremor with 4.5 magnitude happened at 3:22 a.m. with epicenter at 92 kilometers northeast of General Luna, Surigao Del Norte province with a depth of 24 kilomenters; the third earthquake, 4.1 magnitude, at 8:37 a.m. with epicenter located at 26 kilometers southeast of San Jose De Buan, Western Samar with a depth of 25 kilometers. KIDAPAWAN CITY - Some 80 village guards in North Cotabato province received today emergency tools from one of the country's biggest power firms. The turnover ceremony was held in Barangay Manongol, this city, one of the recipients of the project spearheaded by the Therma Marine, Inc., a subsidiary of the Aboitiz Power, Inc. Theodore Bisnar, marketing executive of the Therma Marine, Inc., a subsidiary of the Aboitiz Power, said the tools could be used to respond to emergency situations, including natural and man-made calamities and other crime-related incidents in the villages.
