Former New York Jet, Insurance Agent Was Able to Make Fast Friends

A former professional defensive lineman who had a way of talking to everyday people, Thomas Baldwin was well liked and easy to get to know.

Mr. Baldwin, a Naperville resident for two years and a former player for the New York Jets, died of a heart attack at his home Tuesday.

Services for the 38-year-old will begin at 10 a.m. today at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 1500 Brookdale Road in Naperville. The Rev. David Baldwin will officiate. Interment will be in Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Worth.

"He was pretty involved with his (three) kids' activities," said his brother, Kevin, of North Carolina. "A lot of people looked up to him."

Born May 13, 1961, in Chicago, Mr. Baldwin graduated from Thornton Fractional High School and received his bachelor's degree in history from the University of Tulsa.

From 1984 to 1989, he played for the New York Jets.

He recently had set up his own State Farm insurance agency in Montgomery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Thomas Baldwin Children's Educational Fund.

Elizabeth Shepherd-Mills

Services for Elizabeth "Beth" Shepherd-Mills, 52, of Naperville, will be held at 9 a.m. today at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville.

Born April 14, 1948, in Oak Park, she died Monday at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield. Interment will be in Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery, Oakbrook Terrace.

Mrs. Mills was a member of the C.A.B. Musical/Singing Group. She was employed with American International Group for 15 years. She was a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Robyn K. McLellan

Funeral services for Robyn Kathleen McLellan, 17, were Friday.

Born Dec. 21, 1982, in Albuquerque, N.M., she died Sunday at Provena-St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet. Interment was in Naperville Cemetery.

Robyn had been a resident of Naperville for 10 years and was a sophomore at Naperville Central High School, where she had played on the freshman basketball and soccer teams. She also was employed by the Naperville Sports Shop.

Joel A. Setzen

Services for Joel A. Setzen, 58, of Naperville, were Wednesday.

Born Oct. 4, 1941, in Chicago, he died Monday at his home. Interment was in Naperville Cemetery.

A resident of Naperville for 28 years, Mr. Setzen earned a doctorate in French history as well as a law degree. He was presently teaching political science at Benedictine University in Lisle.

Mr. Setzen was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Illinois Bar Association.

Elaine L. Manser

Funeral services for Elaine L. Manser (nee Dooley), 67, a resident of Naperville since 1967, were Monday.

Born June 2, 1932, in Pittsburgh, Pa., she died April 28 at home.

Mrs. Manser grew up in Detroit, Mich. She married her husband, Charles, on April 17, 1953, and they lived in St. Clair Shores, Mich., until moving to Naperville.

Mrs. Manser was employed as a computer specialist by Bell Labs in Naperville until her husband's job took them to Japan and then to Saudi Arabia in the 1980s.

She was a longtime member of Ss. Peter and Paul Church in Naperville and a member of the Japan America Society.
