Orlando's Magicard

If you want to save money while in Orlando, take a look at Magicard, a discount card being offered by the Orlando/Orange County Convention & Visitors Bureau. The Magicard, good for up to six people through Feb. 28, 2000, offers discounts on more than 80 establishments, including hotels, rental cars, restaurants and attractions in the area. Discounts include 10 percent to 15 percent off car rentals with major chains, up to 20 percent off the Sunday- morning gospel brunch at the Lake Buena Vista outpost of the House of Blues chain, and discounts on admissions to Sea World, Gatorland and the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. You can request the Magicard and the Orlando tourist kit by calling (800) 551-0181 or pick it up in person at the Official Visitor Center (8723 International Drive) between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. daily.

Northwest Airlines is offering a free companion award for travelers purchasing and traveling on qualifying round-trip tickets through Northwest's WorldWest Reservations between now and June 11. All you have to do is go to Northwest's Web site and purchase a qualifying ticket. Once the ticket is purchased, you'll receive an Electronic Certificate for a Free Companion Award via e-mail, which will contain the passenger's E-Ticket Number, a unique E-Cert Number and a Reference Code. Travelers can then redeem the Free Companion Award by calling (800) 225-2525 or by visiting any Northwest city ticket office. The Companion Award can only be redeemed after all travel on qualifying flights is complete. The free companion ticket is good for travel between Sept. 8 and Dec. 15.
