McHenry County's only tour of new houses, the Spring Medley of Homes, opens today and continues through March 15.

The home show includes new town houses, single-family houses and custom houses being built across McHenry County. Many are for sale; other developers have models you can view.

The Medley Tour Guide, a Daily Herald special section, will be available in all homes on the tour. The guide, which was in some editions of Friday's Daily Herald, includes maps showing the location of new housing developments in McHenry County.

The guide also includes descriptions and photos or drawings of featured homes, along with background information about the builder.

"We have a number of new builders in this Medley with a wide variety of new homes to showcase," says Denise Freund, administrator for the McHenry County Home Builders Association.

"There is a lot of excitement about housing now in McHenry County, and with interest rates so low, this is the perfect time for people to get out and see what our builders have to offer," Freund says.

Many of the model homes are furnished and landscaped. Where models are not yet completed, visitors will be directed to on-site sales offices. The printed guide notes which developments have sales offices, furnished models and completed houses for sale.

Single-family home prices range from $137,900 to $810,000. Town houses start at $111,295.

The Medley of Homes is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free. For details, call (815) 459-4240.
