Carol Stream Neighbors Fear Effects of Truck Terminal Plan

Neighbors are objecting to the noise and fumes they believe a proposed truck terminal would generate in a south side Carol Stream neighborhood.

Resident Zulema Shallcross said she and her neighbors are worried the constant truck traffic of a proposed package delivery firm terminal would lower their property values.

RPS is the package delivery firm seeking the location, said Carol Stream Community Development Director Joanne Gugliotta.

The terminal is planned for an industrial park on the west side of Gary Avenue and south of Tubeway Drive, Gugliotta said.

The number of trips in and out of the facility every day will be about 440, Gugliotta said. That count includes cars as well as trucks.

Shallcross said the terminal will be about 300 feet from her back yard. She lives in Fieldsworth Estates, one of three subdivisions in an unincorporated area near Wheaton close to the site. …
