Huskies Finish Defeats Falcons, Sets Up Rematch with Redhawks

It's not how you start, it's how you finish.

In the first quarter of its regional final in the Class AA East Aurora sectional, Naperville North scored 12 points on 4-of-12 accuracy.

Wheaton North matched that total with 6-of-9 shooting.

Naperville North saved its efficiency for later, when it hit 22 of 26 free throws in a 32-point fourth quarter that propelled the host Huskies to a 75-63 win.

With its third win of the season over the Falcons, Naperville North (23-3) claimed its fourth trip to East Aurora in the past seven years. The Huskies will meet Naperville Central Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

"We won there at Christmas, and we said when we walked out of there at the end of December 'We're coming back,' " Huskies coach Mark Lindo said.

Wheaton North (14-14), which got a season-high 30 points from 6-foot-7 senior Omari Pearson, squeezed the best out of the Huskies.

The hosts got 11 fourth-quarter points from Chad Plotke (20 points), and 8 apiece from Henry Domercant (20) and Jim Chiappetta (18).

"It was a hard game to take, and a hard game to forget," said Pearson, who collected 24 of his points in the second half. "They've got good players."

In the second meeting between the teams in seven days, Wheaton North's 13-5 run halfway through the final period put the score at 50-50 with a little over four minutes to play. …
