Unisys Conference Center May Get a Make Over

Lisle's Unisys conference center soon may get a new look to go with its new owners and clients.

Arizona-based International Conference Resorts plans to transform the center into a training ground for employees of Fortune 1000 companies. Currently, only Unisys uses the center to train its employees.

The proposed $20 million project adds 92,774 square feet to the 238,551-square-foot building. The company also plans to add 128 guest rooms, giving the conference center 359.

The proposal recently won support from Lisle plan commissioners, who are recommending village trustees approve the project. Village trustees will review the project next month.

"It's an adaptive reuse of an existing property that's under-used today," said Tom Ewers, Lisle's community development director. "The facility has not been fully utilized in a while."

Much like Unisys, International Conference Resorts will book training seminars and business conferences at the center. …
