Patricia J. Pedersen

Prayers for Patricia J. Pedersen (nee O'Brien) will be said at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 16 at the Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 185 E. Northwest Hwy., Palatine. Mass will follow at 10 a.m. at St. Theresa Church, 467 N. Benton St., Palatine.

Mrs. Pedersen, 68, of Palatine, died Thursday, Sept. 12 at her home. She was born Feb. 14, 1928 in Chicago and was formerly a teacher at St. Colette School in Rolling Meadows. Additionally, Mrs. Pedersen assisted in her husband's business in Palatine, the Pedersen Insurance Agency.

She grew up in the Beverly area of Chicago and attended St. Barnabus Elementary School, the Academy of Our Lady High School and graduated from Grinnel College in Iowa.

She is survived by her husband Bernard E. (State Representative from the 54th District), her sons Edwin B. (Susan), Andrew (Ann), her daughter, Christina M. Tinning, her brother Donald O'Brien of Chicago, her grandchildren, John, Kathleen, Bridgid, Patrick, Meghan, Mary, Kate and Brendan Tinning and Bernard II, Josephine and Brendan Pedersen. She was preceeded in death by her brothers the late John and the late James, and also her sister, the late Mary A. Edman. She was also preceeded in death by her parents Vincent and Marion O'Brien.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Rachel J. Pfortmiller

Services for Rachel J. Pfortmiller, 52, a resident of Elgin for most of her life, will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 15 at the Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin. Rev. Bill Edmonds will officiate.

She was born July 8, 1944 in Hightop, Ala., the daughter of Otis and Myrtle Davis.

Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. She died Thursday, Sept. 13 in Sherman Hospital.

Survivors include daughter, Charlotte Raper; sons, Alfred Raper and Timothy Raper, all of Elgin; grandchildren, Armando Marquez, Carmen Elisa Santiago, Jenna Raper, Raymond Raper and Joseph Michael Raper; mother, Vera Snoddy of Haleyville, Ala.; sisters, Linda Hood of Haleyville, Ala., Ruby Garrison of Double Springs, Ala., Elaine Stadie of Elgin and Lila Patterson of Jasper, Ala.; brothers, Roy Davis of Double Springs, Ala. and Otis Davis of Haleyville, Ala. …
