Grubb Helps Notre Dame to Quick Start; ISU Roster Features Reynolds, Kaech

Freshman Jen Grubb (Conant) began her Notre Dame soccer career by helping the Irish to 2 shutout wins.

Grubb showed off her speed and power on defense and also scored her first career goal when she rocketed a shot from 25 yards out against Boston College.

Grubb came back with an assist against Providence.

- The first Illinois State University women's soccer team will have a Daily Herald look this fall with Liz Reynolds (Rolling Meadows) and Kathie Kaech (Schaumburg) making the varsity roster.

- Freshman Nicole Stonecipher (Mundelein) and senior Kristy Twarogowski (Lake Zurich) helped Lewis University, which is ranked No. 5 in NCAA Division II, win its first two games of the season.

Stonecipher scored a goal in her first collegiate game, a 7-3 win over Missouri-Rolla.

The following day, Twarogowski tallied 2 goals and an assist in the Flyers' 5-1 victory over St. Cloud State.

- Bryan Meyer (Libertyville) and Brad O'Sullivan (St. Viator) scored goals for Carthage College in a 6-0 win over North Park.


Junior middle hitter Sarah Truelsen (Buffalo Grove) of Wheaton College had 8 kills and 8 blocks, including 6 solo stuffs, against Wisconsin Lutheran in the Carthage College Invitational. …
