Visitors Bureau to Open Its Doors to Residents

Lisle Convention and Visitors Bureau officials are inviting residents into their Main Street office for a peek at the bureau's operations.

"We want the general public to understand how it (the bureau) impacts Lisle," LCVB President Estella Abell said. "There's some confusion in lines between the chamber and the convention bureau."

While the Lisle Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Lisle Area Chamber of Commerce share an office at 4756 Main St., they do not share a common purpose.

"We're trying to convince the outside world they should be meeting in Lisle," Abell said.

By contrast, the chamber promotes local businesses to the town's residents.

The open house is set for 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the LCVB office. Residents and local business people will be able to pick up literature about tourism opportunities in Lisle, DuPage County and Illinois.

The open house also is a way to celebrate National Tourism Week, which runs May 5 to 11. …
