English Drama for Children to Debut on EBS-TV

Timed with the Education Ministry's directive to teach Korean students from elementary to high school practical, conversational English in English classes from the upcoming spring semester, the Educational Broadcasting System (EBS) has come up with two creative English education dramas for students.

Of the two dramas, ``Michael, My Friend'' is for elementary third graders, and ``Settie and Jettie, Spacekids!'' for fourth graders. The former will be aired on Mondays between 6:25 p.m. to 6:40 p.m. and the latter on Tuesdays in the same time slot, starting next week.

``Michael, My Friend'' is an English drama telling the story of a foreign family in Korea that moves in next door to a Korean family, and how the two become close friends.

The first episode will begin with the two new neighbors getting acquainted with each other.

The dialogue of the previous episode will be repeated in a brief practice session before the next installment to enable students to remember the new English words, phrases and the context in which they were employed. Michael is the son of the foreign family who becomes close friends with Song-i who is the daughter of the Korean family. They are both third graders.

``Settie and Jettie, Spacekids!'' is an exciting story about two alien kids and their adult guardian Tus who hail from a distant planet. …
