TWO-TRY wing Mark Jones probably booked his place on Wales's tour of Japan as Llanelli booked their place for next season's Heineken Cup.

Prop Phil Booth and centre Neil Boobyer also bagged a double as the Scarlets cut loose after taking a 19-7 interval lead with wind advantage.

Llanelli, who included 11 capped players - including the entire back division - were much too powerful for the Gwent side as they surged past 600 League points for the season.

Ebbw Vale, with only five League wins this season, face another stern task in their final match at Neath on Friday night.

But the pressure is off Llanelli as they prepare for Saturday's home game against Cardiff.

Boobyer came in as a late change for new Lion Dafydd James, who stood down with a slight strain.

Llanelli's other Lions debutant, hooker Robin McBryde, produced some dangerous bursts before giving way to Marcus Thomas for the last quarter.

Even without Scott Quinnell - who was on the bench - the Scarlets' back row called the tune with Irish flanker Simon Easterby setting the standard in his first match for 10 months after injury. …
