CPD Logistics in in the Driving Seat

A Warwickshire logistics and distribution company has won its first automotive contract and two Midlands companies have formed an alliance to match competition in the sector.

The companies are CPD Logistics and the alliance firms Anderson & Ryan and Premier Sheet Metal, both of Coventry.

Anderson & Ryan makes bespoke vehicle seating and soft trim and Premier Sheet Metal and is a supplier of prototype bodies, panels and parts.

They have recognised the potential in a market where manufacturers are moving to produce limited runs of 5,000 to15,000 limited editions each year rather than 100,000 standard models.

Dave Anderson (below left) of Anderson & Ryan said: 'For nearly 20 years we have been designing and producing bespoke interiors for limited editions for Jaguar, Mercedes and Land Rover and limited editions is now becoming a growth market.

'Premier Sheet Metal produce the metal structures for car seating and we specialise in the trim content.'

Premier Sheet Metal has 150 craftsmen at its Coventry plant and its managing director Paul Sullivan (above left) said automotive manufacturers were now demanding alliances among their suppliers.

CPD Logistics will hold andsupply car seat assemblies for Honda to be delivered daily on a just-in-time basis to Johnson Controls' factory near Leamington Spa. …
