A roundup of good deals, inside scoops and advice for the traveler:

Consider a luxury rail tour

Starting this June, the Acadian Railway Co. -the tour industry's newest network of international, all-daylight luxury rail tours - will offer more than 27 all-inclusive escorted and nonescorted tour packages through New England, Quebec and the Maritime Provinces of Canada.

Packages will include most meals, accommodations, guides, transfers and sightseeing, with pre- and post-extension excursions available as additional options. Each tour will be on board the Acadian or Lake Champlain luxury trains that include gourmet cuisine (many dishes and complimentary wines served with each meal are native to the region the train explores), historical commentary and more.

Packages range from three-day Mini Break Tours starting at $799 per person, double occupancy, to 12-day Rail Cruise vacations starting at $3,725. The tours operate from June to mid-September during the summer season, and from mid-September to late October for Autumn Leaf Tours. Departure cities include New York City, Boston, Portland, Halifax, Nova Scotia and Montreal.
