Meet the Bookstore Owner's Wife, an Author

Neil Heskin, owner of Earthen Vessels in downtown Arlington Heights, did not have to look far for the No. 1 bestselling author in his store. It's his wife, Kathy Heskin, and she could not be more surprised.

"Isn't it exciting," Kathy Heskin said. "I can hardly believe it."

Her first book, "Marriage: A Spiritual Journey," was released two weeks ago and already has sold 70 copies at Earthen Vessels.

Kathy Heskin will be on hand from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday to sign copies of her book, which is published by Twenty-Third Publications of Mystic. The book is appealing to such a wide market that publishers have asked her to write a second book.

The decision to write about marriage, Heskin said, was easy. She and her husband have been involved with Marriage Encounter and other similar retreats for more than 20 years.

Heskin is an associate professor of theology, and director of the pastoral ministry bachelor's program at Dominican University in River Forest. She also teaches a marriage and family class to seminarians at St. …
