Information given below refers to training for graduates starting in 2002. All programmes are in review; updated details will appear on the bank's graduate website when it is re-launched on September 1st 2002.

Which subjects are covered by the basic training?

Each programme aims to give the graduate a full training not only in their chosen division, but the firm as whole. However, the graduate programme is business specific, so training will vary depending upon which business a graduate is entering.

Trainee equities analysts will look in detail at global equity markets. Training will cover research, valuation, investor clients, sales & trading, equity capital markets and syndication, convertibles and equity derivatives.

Trainee private bankers will take part in a three-year programme involving classroom training, on the job training and work rotations. They may also study for the CFA exam.

Graduates in investment management will also train over 3 years and be given the opportunity to take the CFA exam. Investment management trainees will also receive training in soft skills such as sales and negotiation, interviewing techniques, communication and assertiveness, and making successful business presentations. …
