MIDWEST

Cole Taylor Bank in Chicago has promoted Robert E. Kuzma to vice president of corporate trust.

He reports to Ann Longino, a vice president of the bank and its manager of corporate trust.

Mr. Kuzma had been an assistant vice president of corporate trust since he joined the bank last year. Before that he had been a vice president and a senior trust officer at Kankakee Federal Savings Bank in Illinois.

He has 20 years of financial services experience, including corporate trust jobs at the Peoria-based First of America Trust Co. (which National City Corp. bought in 1998) and the Seneca-based First Midwest Trust Co. (which First Midwest Bancorp Inc. in Itsaca merged into its First Midwest Bank last year).

Cole Taylor is a $2.3 billion-asset subsidiary of Taylor Capital Group Inc. in Wheeling.

SOUTHEAST

First National Bank and Trust Co. in Asheboro, N.C., has named Jeff Cox the manager of its South Asheboro branch.

He succeeded Jim Allen, who was recently named a staff auditor at the FNB Corp. subsidiary.

Mr. Cox had been the manager of First National's Seagrove branch since he joined it in September 2000.

The $598-million asset company also hired Eddie Bray as the manager of its Pinehurst branch, which is scheduled to open in mid-October. He will be in charge of developing business, personal, and investment banking relationships in Moore County.

Mr. Bray is a commercial banker in Pinehurst at RBC Centura Bank, a Rocky Mount-based unit of Royal Bank of Canada. He has six years of financial sales and sales management experience.

WEST

Pacific State Bank in Stockton, Calif., has promoted Patrick MacDonald to manager of its downtown Stockton branch.

Mr. MacDonald, who remains a vice president, had been a commercial loan officer since he joined the Pacific State Bancorp subsidiary last year. Before that he had been an assistant vice president and a loan officer for eight years at Union Bank of California, which is mostly owned by Mitsubishi Tokyo Financial Group Inc.

He started his banking career in 1985 as a commercial and agricultural credit underwriter at the Modesto-based Pacific Valley National Bank, where he worked for nine years. (Westamerica Bancorp. in San Rafael bought its parent, PV Financial, in 1995.)

The $145 million-asset Pacific State Bank also promoted Laura Maffei to regional manager.

Ms. Maffei, who remains a vice president, was the manager of the bank's El Dorado branch. She joined Pacific State in 1990 as a commercial loan officer.

She has 23 years of banking experience, including jobs at the San Francisco-based Crocker National Bank, which the old Wells Fargo & Co. …
