Your Celebrations: Soldiers Send Festive Greeting; Servicemen Celebrating Christmas in Kosovo

SOUTH Wales soldiers have sent Christmas messages home to their loved ones as they prepare to spend the festive season far from home in Kosovo.

While most of us will be tucking into a turkey dinner, they will be on duty in Kosovo, serving as part of the British contribution to the UN-led Kosovo Force.

The soldiers, along with those from countries such as Finland, Sweden, France and America, are aiming to bring stability to Kosovo after it was torn apart by war in 1999.

They are serving as medics, doctors, chefs, military police, and infantry soldiers and their experience is used in all aspects of army life. However, being so far from home over the festive period will not stop the soldiers celebrating in style with Christmas parties during the run up to the big day and a traditional Christmas dinner served by the officers.

The Army's own postal workers will also be working flat out to ensure that the soldiers receive packages from home in time to spread some Christmas cheer. …
