Discussing his 2-for-4 performance with the Pirates on Sunday, left fielder Xavier Paul said he went into the game just wanting to have fun. "To be able to help the team win and come up with a big hit feels great," said Paul, who had a two-run triple in the second inning. "Like I said coming over here, whatever my role is and whatever I can do to help the team win, I'm going to give it 100 percent and hopefully it works out for the best."

Jose Tabata said yesterday that he feels about 95 percent, but manager Clint Hurdle told him that he'd also have today off to recover from hamstring discomfort that forced him out of Saturday's game. Tabata felt his right hamstring tighten when he stepped on the base running out a ground ball in his first at-bat. He was replaced by Matt Diaz in that game, then by Paul yesterday.

Ross Ohlendorf will throw batting practice Tuesday and then another live session in his recovery from a right shoulder posterior strain. …
