Events Set Up to Aid Photo Antiquities' Move to New Location

Bruce Klein says he has run out of "horizontal and vertical space" and has planned two events for next week he hopes will foster a move for his Photo Antiquities museum.

"We have the space, now we are just hunting for a way to move it," says the founder of this North Side collection of photos and equipment. The photos date back to 1827 and equipment includes the camera that captured the flag-raising on Iwo Jima in 1945.

Klein wants to move the collection, cramped into 1,800 square feet on East Ohio Street, into what was the Allegheny Social Hall, a 100-year-old building on Madison Street, only a few blocks away.

At noon on Tuesday, Klein will stage a news conference at the Allegheny Harvard Yale Club, Downtown, at which he will announce a fund drive for the move and a search for a director to guide it.

At 6:30 p.m. Thursday, he will open his nonprofit museum to show off the site and seek donations for the effort. …
