Packed full of entertainment, activities and great food, the annual Dunbar Community Fest is one event that is sure to please everyone.

Held in the heart of the town, the festival is a celebration of heritage and community pride as it welcomes its hundreds of visitors every year to the event.

"We have a nice festival," Cindy Moag said. "We see more and more people every year."

The festival, now in its 11th year, begins on Friday evening with bluegrass music from 7 to 9:30 p.m.

The annual Pechin 5K Run/Walk will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday, followed by the bicycle poker run at 9 a.m.

The theme for this year's festival will be "Honoring Those Who Serve," and the event will feature a presentation honoring veterans of the town and surrounding areas.

The festival will feature several contests, a parade that starts at 10:30, live entertainment, and train rides.

"I think that our train rides are something that sets us apart from other festivals," Moag said of the rides available on the Fayette Central Railroad, the speeder cars and also the kiddy barrel train. "We have a few different options for train rides."

Moag added that a special presentation will be held recognizing Don Harbaugh of Ohio who recently donated a speeder car to the Dunbar Historical Society.

"He donated it in memory of his grandfathers who worked on the railroad," Moag said. …
